Sen. Marshall to Newsmax: Biden Will Lose Over Border Crisis

The crisis at the nation's southern border is "by far and far away" the main concern with this year's presidential election, and it will cost President Joe Biden the White House, Sen. Roger Marshall said Thursday on Newsmax.

"We did town halls with senior citizens and young adults in the last two weeks, [and] both of those groups say that this is the number one issue," the Kansas Republican said on Newsmax's "Wake Up America."

Former President Donald Trump, Biden's expected challenger this fall, "has proven that he can secure the border with even the laws we have right now," said Marshall, adding that lawmakers must "fire" Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas now and "fire Joe Biden in 300 days and elect Donald Trump."

Marshall's comments came a day after he and Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, held a press conference with other lawmakers to speak out against an emerging bipartisan deal for funding Ukraine and Israel, which opponents say does not properly address the border situation.

"What I'm concerned about is they have not addressed parole," said Marshall. "This president has paroled 1.7 million people, or about 700,000 a year compared to when Barack Obama was president. He was paroling 5,000 a year."

For a compromise bill on funding and the border to pass both congressional chambers, it must address asylum and parole, among other issues, Marshall said.

"We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to do this," he said. "I'm hoping we can take a good bill and make it even better."

Marshall said he's encouraging people who have been victimized by crimes because of the border situation to share their stories on his X page, as "these are real people, real families, who are losing loved ones all across America."

He also spoke out against the federal government's push against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott's border initiatives.

"It's absolutely a humanitarian crisis that people are dying on the way trying to get to the border," said Marshall. "The cartel is becoming very rich on the human trafficking, the sex trafficking that's probably not getting enough play right now."

But Abbott's efforts, including the installation of razor wire, allow the Border Patrol to better do its job, Marshall said.
