Sebastian Gorka, deputy assistant to the president and senior director for counterterrorism in the Trump administration, told Newsmax on Tuesday that public opinion will remain on the side of mass deportations of illegal immigrants because 77 million Americans "chose common sense" on Nov. 5.
Gorka made the remarks in an appearance on "Rob Schmitt Tonight" while discussing Week 2 of the Trump administration's crackdown on illegal immigration.
"Look, Rob, I don't think there needs to be any kind of special policy because 77 million Americans chose common sense. They realized that four years of open borders is sheer insanity," Gorka told host Rob Schmitt. "Allowing millions of people into this country unvetted isn't just bad for the economy and for the working American, it's also a national security threat."
The safety and security of the American people is easily the top mandate given President Donald Trump by the American people, Gorka said, dismissing Democrats' attacks on Trump for not decreasing the price of eggs in his seven days in the White House.
"So whether it's, you know, [DHS] Secretary [Kristi] Noem, whether it's [border czar] Tom Homan, whether it's [FBI director-designate] Kash Patel — God willing — very, very soon, they know that the team is in place to do one thing above all else and it's not about the price of eggs: It's about making sure that Americans are safe," Gorka said.
"The prosperity is going to come because we remember those halcyon days, don't we? Just a few years ago, Rob, what the economy was like, the energy, the exports. And the first thing isn't the price of eggs; it's making sure Americans are safe," he added.
