Why Millennials Are Trading Big Cities for Small Towns

Over the past decade, some 30,000 major metropolitan area's residents in the 24-40 age range have moved to smaller towns each year. Many are questioning the reason for the trend.

The migration gained momentum during and in the years after the COVID-19 pandemic. About 32% of Gen Z and 26% of millennials reported moving to smaller towns or rural areas during that time, and the momentum hasn't slowed.
