Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., in late January followed through with his threat to issue subpoenas to get to the bottom of the origins of COVID-19 and gain-of-function research.

Paul, chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, issued subpoenas to 14 agencies from the outgoing Biden-Harris administration, including the National Institutes of Health and Department of State.
