Donald Trump's enemies will "never succeed" in stopping the former president from pursuing a return to the White House, according to former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson.
Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, was shot in the ear during a failed assassination attempt at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.
"They tried to bankrupt him. They tried to slander him. They tried to imprison him. Now they have tried to kill him, but if God is protecting him, they will never succeed," Carson posted Saturday night on X.
A 20-year-old suspect was shot and killed by the Secret Service seconds after he allegedly fired shots toward a stage where Trump and was speaking in Butler, Pennsylvania. One rally attendee died, and two other spectators were critically injured.
