Republican Sen. Mike Braun, R-Ind., has defeated Democrat Jennifer McCormick for the open seat in the Indiana gubernatorial race.
Newsmax called the race for Braun shortly after polls closed Tuesday.
Braun, endorsed by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump in 2023, won a six-way GOP primary to take on McCormick, who ran uncontested in the Democrat primary.
Braun will succeed Republican Gov. Eric Holcomb, who termed out after two terms.
"As we run through the tape during these last two months of my term, our Administration, like all those before me, will provide the support Governor-Elect Braun needs to ensure a smooth transition for our great State and most importantly the citizens that call Indiana home," Holcomb wrote in an email.
Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., has defeated Democrat Valerie McCray to win the seat vacated by Braun, Newsmax is projecting.
