The pro-Trump super PAC bankrolled by Telsa CEO Elon Musk plans to kick into high gear in August following a month of reorganization, Bloomberg reported.
In July, a political action committee aimed at electing former President Donald Trump received commitment from Musk, who was rumored to have pledged $45 million to America PAC, but actuals won't be revealed until quarterly filing in October. That move was quickly followed by a shake-up in leadership as Phil Cox and Generra Peck took over the reins.
A Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing on Wednesday showed $5.8 million in spending in August, the majority of that influx being directed toward get-out-the-vote initiatives and field operations aimed at canvassing.
Musk is a unique figure when it comes to big time political donors as many prefer to stand on the sidelines and merely serve as a financial backer. Musk has injected himself directly into the 2024 presidential race with vocal support of Trump.
This week Musk had a conversation with Trump on his X platform, which as of this writing has 268.1 million views on the post sharing it. The discussion received widespread criticism from many on the political left who derided the streaming platform's initial technical hiccups and what they deemed "softball questions" from Musk.
On Monday, The Wall Street Journal reported that America PAC is looking to turn out 800,000 new voters in battleground states for Trump this election cycle. The outlet stated the super PAC is estimating it will need around $160 million to field 6,000 canvassers to work the critical swing districts.
