Great Britain's new foreign secretary condemned the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs David Lammy took to social media Saturday night soon after U.S. officials confirmed the shooting at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, and that the former president had been shot in the ear.

"The UK government condemns all forms of political violence in the strongest terms," Lammy posted on X.

"As we monitor the shocking developments in Pennsylvania, our thoughts and best wishes are with President Trump – along with every victim and their families."

Lammy told Newsmax on Wednesday that the U.K. "will work with" Trump if he returns to the White House.
