Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., appearing on ABC's "This Week," got into a tense exchange with host George Stephanopoulos regarding her recent endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

The row began after Stephanopoulos referenced Trump's legal battle with author E. Jean Carroll, who was awarded $83.3 million after a jury found Trump defamed her by denying her sexual assault allegations, and asked how Mace, as a rape victim herself, could reconcile her support for Trump.

Mace accused Stephanopoulos of attempting to shame her by bringing up her history as a rape victim. "I was raped at the age of 16, and any rape victim will tell you, I've lived for 30 years with an incredible amount of shame over being raped ... I'm not going to sit here on your show and be asked a question meant to shame me about another potential rape victim. I'm not going to do that."

In response, Stephanopoulos replied that the question is "actually not about shaming you. It's a question about Donald Trump."

"No, you are shaming me," Mace fired back.

Mace went on to highlight that Trump has never been criminally convicted of rape and criticized Carroll's public comments post-verdict.
