Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi plans to skip President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration next week, her spokesperson told ABC News.

Pelosi previously attended Trump's inauguration for his first term in 2017, when she was the leader of the House Democrats.

The spokesperson reportedly did not give a reason why Pelosi will not attend the event.

The California Democrat was present for both the first day of the new Congress as well as the certification of electoral votes on Jan. 6, despite breaking her hip late last year while on a trip to Luxembourg.

One of the president-elect's fiercest critics, Pelosi's attacks on Trump have frequently made headlines and only intensified after the 2020 election and the breach of the Capitol by protesters on Jan. 6, 2021.

For his part, Trump called Pelosi "an enemy from within" on the campaign trail last year and said that "she’s a crooked person."

"She's a bad person, evil. She's an evil, sick, crazy," Trump said, before seemingly mouthing "b****." "It starts with a 'b' but I won't say it. I want to say it."
