New York Democrat Attorney General Letitia James was booed and drowned out by chants of "Trump" while delivering a speech Thursday at the New York Fire Department promotion ceremony.

Moments after stepping to the podium at a church, James thanked Commissioner Laura Kavanagh before the crowd started chanting former president Donald Trump's last name, Newsweek reported.

"Trump! Trump! Trump!" the crowed shouted.

James responded: "Come on, we're in a house of God ... simmer down."

The attorney general campaigned for her job branding Trump as a "con man" and "carnival barker" and pledging to shine a "bright light into every dark corner of his real estate dealings."

She then filed a lawsuit against Trump alleging that he and his elder sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr., illegally inflated the value of the properties owned by The Trump Organization.

A New York judge ruled last month against Trump, imposing a $364 million penalty over what the judge ruled was a yearslong scheme to dupe banks and others with financial statements that inflated the former president’s wealth.

Accrued interest has increased the penalty to more than $400 million.

Trump, who has vowed to appeal the ruling, is required to secure a bond amounting to the full value of the penalties by March 25.

The former president has denied any wrongdoing in the civil fraud case.
