Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y. and fellow “squad” member Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., have won reelection in their respective districts, Newsmax projects.
AOC defeated Tina Forte, 71.2% to 26.9%, in New York’s 14th Congressional District, while Omar defeated Republican challenger Cicely Davis in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District.
Omar, who became the first Somali refugee elected to the U.S. Congress in 2018, and AOC, the youngest female to be elected to the House at 29 years old in 2018, were both seeking their third term in office.
"Thank you to every member of our community and every grassroots supporter for entrusting me with the great responsibility of representing NY-14 in Congress," AOC tweeted shortly after her reelection was secured. "We do this with small dollars, every time. I remain grateful to all of you who make a new kind of governance possible."
