Stacey Dixon is expected to be named the acting director of national intelligence, Politico reported, citing two people close to the Trump transition team.

While Dixon was appointed to her current post, principal deputy DNI, by former President Joe Biden, she is viewed as less partisan than Morgan Muir, the current deputy DNI for mission integration, sources told Politico.

Muir is expected to retire, while ODNI Chief Operating Officer Lora Shiao is expected to remain in her current role, Politico said.

Sources told Politico that Dixon was sidelined by outgoing DNI chief Avril Haines while Muir was "Biden and Haines' henchman."

Neither the Trump transition team nor ODNI responded to Politico's request for comment.

Dixon will remain in her role until Trump's nominee, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, is confirmed. The Senate has yet to set a date for Gabbard's confirmation hearings.

Trump has also not appointed anyone to fill Dixon's former role, which requires Senate confirmation.
