White House envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi plan to meet in Oslo, Norway, to restart nuclear talks between the two countries, according to sources said to be familiar with the discussions.

The White House and the Iranian government have not confirmed the meeting or set a final date for when it could happen, but if the meeting does take place, it would be the first time the sides have met in person since President Donald Trump ordered a military strike on three key nuclear facilities in Iran in June, reported Axios.

A White House official commented that there are "no travel announcements" to be made at this time, and the Iranian mission to the United Nations declined to comment on the report.

Witkoff and Araghchi remained in contact during the 12-day war between Iran and Israel, and after the United States brokered a ceasefire between the nations, the sources commented.

Officials in Oman and Qatar have been involved in the mediations.

Israel's stockpile of enriched uranium, including 400 kilograms that have been enriched to 60%, just shy of the 90% needed to build a nuclear bomb, is likely to come under discussion.

Israeli and U.S. officials claim that the Iranian uranium is "sealed off from the outside world" and covered in rubble after the strikes on the Natanz and Fordo enrichment facilities and the underground tunnels at Isfahan.

Meanwhile, Araghchi said in a post on X Thursday that Iran remains committed to its Safeguards Agreement and the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, but added that any coordination with the International Atomic Energy Agency will be channeled through Iran's Supreme National Security Council "for obvious safety and security reasons."

He also told CBS News Monday that talks with the United States are not likely to resume soon, as Iran must first "ensure that America will not revert to targeting us in a military attack during the negotiations.”

"And I think with all these considerations, we still need more time," he added. He also insisted that "the doors of diplomacy will never slam shut."

Further, when he was asked if Iran plans to continue enriching uranium, he responded that his country's "peaceful nuclear program has turned into a matter of national pride and glory. We have also gone through 12 days of imposed war; therefore, people will not easily back down from enrichment."
