Republicans from Texas cheered the state's Republican governor, Greg Abbott, and the University of Texas at Austin for their success in shutting down a pro-Palestinian protest within hours of it starting, The Washington Examiner reported.

"Take your intifada and shove it! Don't Mess with Texas," said Rep. Beth Van Duyne, R-Texas, in a post on X.

"This is how it is done @Columbia. Thank you @JCHartzell," state Rep. Craig Goldman wrote, tagging the president of UT Austin in his post.

Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, wrote, "UT President Hartzell got this right. Thank you."

Out of hundreds of protesters, 50 people were arrested, the Texas Department of Public Safety told the Examiner on Thursday. Hundreds of state troopers were on campus Wednesday until they were able to successfully move the group from school buildings to a commercial street.

State, local, and campus police were back on site on Thursday, since protesters regrouped.

"Today, at the request of the University of Texas (UT) and at the direction of Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) personnel remain on standby in order to support UT Police in maintaining the peace on the University campus. While we do not discuss operational specifics, DPS is continuously monitoring events and their impact on public safety and will adjust operations as needed in order to assist our law enforcement partners," a DPS spokesperson said in a statement to the Examiner.
