In announcing that America’s longest war is now over, President Biden continued his string of false statements to justify a withdrawal that has humiliated America.
Biden claimed he was forced to withdraw because of President Trump’s agreement with the Taliban. He then claimed credit for it.
He said the hasty exit that left stranded U.S. citizens and Afghans who helped us occurred because of plans developed by his military leaders. In fact, it was Biden who insisted on a hasty pullout and limited troop deployments so he could glorify himself before the Sept. 11 anniversary with a speech announcing the end of the war.
Biden claimed America would be protected from future terrorist attacks with an over-the-horizon capability. Yet no weapons or sensors outside Afghanistan will be able to pinpoint terrorist plots now that CIA officers and so-called illegals on the ground will be unable to develop human sources in the country.
Biden even claimed he would protect the rights of Afghan women and girls “through diplomacy, economic tools, and rallying the rest of the world for support.”
Behind the scenes, it turns out that as the Taliban were advancing in July, Biden urged Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to lie publicly about the perception that the Taliban were winning.
“There is a need—whether it is true or not—there is a need to project a different picture [than the perception],” Biden told the Afghan president, according to a transcript of the call obtained by Reuters.
From running for president as a moderate who is actually governing from the left, to projecting himself as empathetic and caring, Biden has done a good job of fooling the American people.
But the whispery voice he adopts to project compassion is yet another act.
The truth is that Biden exhibits all the signs of a narcissist.
According to the Mayo Clinic, narcissistic personality disorder is a mental condition in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for excessive attention and admiration, and a lack of empathy for others.
These individuals take advantage of others to get what they want and have an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others.
Biden’s character flaws are magnified by what insiders call White House-itus, a malady of arrogance that is common to U.S. presidents.
It is difficult to imagine the pressure that being president of the U.S. imposes and how readily the power of being president corrupts.
To be in command of the most powerful country on earth, to be able to fly anywhere at a moment’s notice on Air Force One, to take action that affects millions of lives, is an intoxicating experience that only people with the most stable personalities and solid values can handle.
“I would see CEOs make a--es of themselves trying to ingratiate themselves with presidents,” a former Secret Service agent told me for my book “The First Family Detail.”
“They revert back to fourth graders. They stumble over their words. They flush with embarrassment. It never fails.”
“Their egos get so big they can’t believe anybody could tell them what to do, and they can’t control themselves,” former Secret Service agent Richard Repasky said.
“The White House is a character crucible," Bertram S. Brown, M.D., a psychiatrist who once headed the National Institute of Mental Health and was an aide to President Kennedy, told me for the book.
“It either creates or distorts character. Few decent people want to subject themselves to the kind of grueling abuse candidates take when they run in the first place,” Dr. Brown said.
“Many of those who run crave superficial celebrity,” Dr. Brown added. “They are hollow people who have no principles and simply want to be elected.”
Thus, unless a president comes to the office with strong character, the crushing force of the office and the adulation the chief executive receives will inevitably lead at best to poor judgment and at worst to catastrophe.
In the case of President Biden, that outcome could well be an attack on America by al-Qaida, which Biden has allowed to have free reign in Afghanistan, using weapons of mass destruction that could wipe out millions of Americans.
