The very recent landslide (re)election of President Donald J. Trump deserves our congratulatory, acknowledging responses.
His victory reflects the great quantity of trust the voters have placed in him and his leadership abilities.
As an American citizen, a member of the medical profession, and a Muslim, it's this writer's honor, to recommend to President Trump several approaches to his second administration which could help his stated mission to Make America Great Again (MAGA) and, with the vision of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to Make America Healthy Again (MAHA).
The president should initiate a large-scale, anecdotal study to compare the outcome of COVID-19 patients who were treated in U.S. outpatient clinics with hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) to those infected patients who did not receive this treatment when it was allowed in the early stages of the pandemic.
Such a study should compare the rates of hospitalization of those patients, the mortality rates among them and the long-term outcome of their received treatment.
This simple statistical study can speak volumes about the potential efficiency of HCQ.
It also could refute the assertions of those who declared war against this medication, calling it the "controversial medicine of Trump."
Additionally, focusing on global radicalism, America must change its strategy against Radical Islam.
But how?
First, we must transition from traditional military confrontations costing us trillions of dollars, yet resulted in the creation of ISIS, as wel as the Taliban regaining control of Afghanistan.
Rather, we must effectively launch and use an aggressive online, social media program against radical Islam.
Unfortunately, previous strategic communications efforts by the U.S. State Department were dismal failures.
Why?
Because they relied on so-called "experts" whose knowledge was based primarily on their understanding of Arabic.
In fact, countering this problem requires a deep knowledge not only of languages, but also of the Islamic faith, of radicalism tactics, of the mindset of the jihadists and, above all, how to counter radicalism in the mind before it materializes into evil acts.
I have called this approach fighting radical Islam, "Brainistan."
We should never forget how non-coverage and outright censorship prevented President Trump from talking to his millions of supporters just before the 2020 election, how these actions prevented many top doctors from sharing their warnings about certain coronavirus treatments and isolation policies, and how they deprived many Americans of their freedom of expression.
Legislatively, it's worth considering revoking Section 230 of the Communications Act, which gives huge privileges to social media and allows them unprecedented control over social discourse.
Such action would control from the individuals who seriously abused their power and deprived so many of their users' freedom.
Having X owned by Elon Musk, a main supporter of President Trump – who purchased the platform when, in its former iteration as Twitter, banned Musk’s favorite satirical news site Babylon Bee – does not guarantee that in the future we won’t see the resurgence of people who will attempt to control social media.
We need a strong move to permanently remedy this issue.
Last, it is vital that President Trump quickly help to end the Iranian threat once and for all.
Such a threat is not limited to Iran but is shared also by organizations like Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza and by the Houthis in Yemen.
The mere possibility that the theocracy in Tehran attains nuclear weapons is beyond frightening. In a democracy, or even in a military dictatorship, using a nuclear weapon against an adversary remains unthinkable, due to the concept of Mutually Assured Destruction, or MAD.
In a Shia theocracy, however, the highest religious authorities, or Mullahs, will not allow the possibility of death in MAD to deter them from using nukes against us.
We need to remember that dying as a martyr to inherit paradise is the ultimate dream of many in a Shia-controlled theocracy.
Mr. President, please act quickly to defang this threat before it wholly consumes us.
