Grammy award-winning singer Rihanna is urging an end to gun violence in Barbados after the shooting death of her 21-year-old cousin.

Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne was shot multiple times and killed while walking near his house in Barbados after he approached an intruder a day after Christmas, Barbados Today reported. The shooter fled the scene and police are asking for help in finding the suspect.

Alleyne died of his injuries after being rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Rihanna, a Barbadian singer, songwriter, and actress, posted a photo of herself with Alleyne on Instagram, saying, "Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man!"

She ended the post with the hashtag #endgunviolence.

In a birthday post Alleyne wrote to Rihanna on Instgram last year, he said, “Your presence in my life is a source of joy and happiness. To my favorite cousin, may all your dreams and wishes come true.”

Gun crime has been on the increase in Barbados with 22 out of 28 murders this year being gun-related, according to Barbados Today.
