The Jonas Brothers are calling it quits. The boy band from Wyckoff, N.J., has made it official, telling People magazine that they’re putting their music aside.

“It’s over for now,” Kevin Jonas told People.

“It’s really hard to say 'forever,'” Nick added. “We’re closing a chapter, for sure.”

“It was a unanimous decision,” Joe Jonas said.

Nick Jonas told the magazine the end came after an Oct. 3 meeting where he said he had questions about the band’s future.

“I was feeling kind of trapped,” he told People. “I needed to share my heart with my brothers.”

Jesse Derris, a representative of the group, told People there was a “deep rift” within the band, which recently deleted its Twitter account.

But fans on Twitter weren’t too happy.

Then there was this dose of reality…

The Jonas Brothers formed in 2005 and captured fame after appearing in a number of Disney productions, including their own Disney Channel television series. The group has produced four albums that have sold more than 8 million copies worldwide.

The group was nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award for Best New Artist.

Kevin Jonas said last summer that he and his wife, Danielle, were expecting a baby girl. When it was announced on Oct. 9 that the group’s upcoming 19-date tour would be cancelled, a representative said it had nothing to do with the baby.
