Jessica Simpson and former NFL star Eric Johnson have separated after 10 years of marriage.
The singer, 44, confirmed that she and her husband, 45, were taking time apart in a statement to People.
"Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage," Simpson said in her statement. "Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family."
Johnson sparked speculation about a split in November when he was seen without his wedding ring. Around the same time, Simpson posted a cryptic Instagram post that teased a "comeback" with photos of her in a recording studio.
"Interviews in my Nashville music room where I unearthed my singular magic," she captioned the images. "This comeback is personal. It's an apology to myself for putting up with everything I did not deserve."
Simpson and Johnson first met through a mutual friend in 2010 and got engaged that November after six months of dating. They married in July 2014. The estranged couple has three children: daughters Maxwell "Maxi" Drew, 12, and Birdie Mae, 5, and son Ace Knute, 11.
In a 2023 interview with People, Simpson praised Johnson and their relationship.
"A true love will never make you question yourself or what's real," she said. "Thanks to my amazing soulmate, I am able to love passionately and without fear of being hurt."
In a separate interview, Simpson spoke about how Johnson "embraces" her career.
"I don't find it hard to love anybody, but I have always thought that I was hard to love, that I was too much for people, or my schedule was too demanding," she told People. "He knows my heart and understands my heart more than anyone I've ever met in my life."
