Sinéad O'Connor has ensured her three children would benefit from her legacy, leaving instructions for her estate, valued at 1.4 million pounds (roughly $1.75 million) after expenses, to be divided among them.
Irish probate records obtained by the U.K.'s The Sun, indicate how the late singer, who died at age 56 in July 2023, wanted her fortune split. She further requested that her albums, which sold 6.2 million globally, be released for her children's benefit.
"I direct that after my death, and at the discretion of any of my children who are then over 18, my albums are to be released to 'milk it for what it's worth,' " the singer wrote in the signed document, according to The Sun.
"My children can dispense my ashes as they see fit," she added.
O'Connor died after she was found unresponsive at a London residence on July 26, 2023. The singer was a mother of four, including her late son Shane, who died by suicide at 17 in 2022.
Her surviving children include Jake Reynolds, 37, from her first marriage to music producer John Reynolds; daughter Roisin Waters, 29, from her relationship with journalist John Waters; and son Yeshua Bonadio, 18, who she shared with Frank Bonadio.
In her will, O'Connor left her religious regalia to her late son Shane and her guitar collection to her youngest child, Yeshua. She appointed her ex-husband John Reynolds, whom she was married to from 1987 to 1991, as executor of her estate, according to The Sun.
A year after her death, O'Connor's official cause of death was revealed.
The singer died from "exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection," according to People, citing local media.
O'Connor's death was officially registered by Reynolds, in Lambeth, London, on July 24, 2024.
Her death was confirmed following a post-mortem examination conducted by Julian Morris, the senior coroner for Inner South London.
