A plurality of voters say President-elect Donald Trump's policy concerning the Russia-Ukraine war will be better than that of his predecessor, Rasmussen Reports found.

Survey results show 43% of voters say Trump's policy toward the Russia-Ukraine war will be better than President Joe Biden's policy, while 37% say Trump's policy will be worse.

Another 11% say Trump's Russia-Ukraine policy will be about the same as Biden's, and 10% are not sure.

An unprovoked Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

A share of 44% of U.S. voters say Biden has done a poor job in terms of dealing with the war, while only 33% say the president has done a good or excellent job, according to Rasmussen Reports survey results.

In August, 37% said Biden was doing a good or excellent job on Ukraine.

Among voters who say Biden is doing a poor job in handling the war, 77% say Trump's policy toward the war will be better than Biden's.

A majority (56%) of Democrats say Biden is doing a good or excellent job handling the Russia-Ukraine war. However, only 20% of Republicans and 23% of unaffiliated voters agree.

Those saying Biden is doing a poor job with the war include 66% of Republicans, 50% of unaffiliated voters, and 16% of Democrats.

While 72% of Republicans say Trump's policy toward the Russia-Ukraine war will be better than Biden's policy, 65% of Democrats say Trump's policy will be worse.

Among unaffiliated voters, 42% say Trump's Ukraine policy will be better than Biden's, 31% say it will be worse, and 11% say it will be about the same.

Rasmussen Reports also asked respondents, "Who is currently winning the war, Russia or Ukraine? Or is the war in Ukraine basically a stalemate now?"

Just 13% say Ukraine is currently winning the war, while 18% say Russia is winning. Another 51% say the war in Ukraine is basically a stalemate now. A share of 18% say they are not sure who's winning.

Democrats (18%) are more likely than Republicans (11%) or voters not affiliated with either major party (8%) to say Ukraine is currently winning the war. Majorities of both GOP voters (52%) and unaffiliated voters (56%) say the war is a stalemate now, as do 47% of Democrats.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey was conducted Jan. 8-9 and 12 among 1,211 U.S. likely voters. It has a margin of sampling error of ±3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
