Iran's deputy foreign minister Tuesday thanked Qatar for its "constructive role" in preventing regional escalation, Iran's Young Journalist Club reported.
The minister, Majid Takhtravanchi, gave the message in a phone call with Qatari Minister of State Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi, the report added, after Iran fired missiles at the U.S. al-Udeid base in Qatar, which Tehran said was retaliation for U.S. strikes on its nuclear facilities.
"Iran is determined to continue and strengthen relations between the two countries based on good neighborliness and supreme interests," Takhtravanchi said, according to the report.
