Russia's overnight strikes on a penitentiary facility in the southeastern Ukraine region of Zaporizhzhia have killed 16 and injured at least 35, regional Ukrainian military and its governor said on Tuesday.

Ivan Fedorov, the governor, writing on the Telegram messaging app, said that the penitentiary facility's buildings were destroyed, and nearby private homes were also damaged.
