Facing and overcoming hardships and struggles that come in life sometimes are addressed in this week's Newsmax Rising Bestsellers.

Two describe the rise from humble beginnings to prominence — one becoming a renowned athlete, the second a celebrated first lady.

Another describes one young woman's struggle to restart her life after years of being trafficked as a sex slave, and the final nonfiction selection depicts a young conservative's inability to fit in and thrive on a liberal university campus.

The novel of the week is the 24th installment of the adventures of an old literary friend.

"Gervonta Davis Biography: From Baltimore Streets to World Champion," by David R. Smith (Independently published)

The fighting spirit of Gervonta "Tank" Davis, the World Boxing Association's reigning lightweight champion, was honed by a troubled childhood on the mean streets of Baltimore. It's a story about his grit, sacrifice, and determination to succeed, and is described by the publisher as:

  • The harsh realities of Davis' early life, where survival came before dreams.
  • The discipline and mentorship that turned a scrappy neighborhood kid into a global boxing sensation.
  • Detailed accounts of his most unforgettable fights, including the jaw-dropping knockouts that built his reputation as one of the sport's most feared finishers.
  • The behind-the-scenes challenges, from legal struggles to the relentless pressures of fame, that tested his resolve outside the ropes.
  • How Tank transformed his setbacks into stepping stones on the road to legacy.

With this, the readers don't merely read about champions — they become a part of the action as they step into the ring with one.  [Nonfiction]

"Melania Trump (2nd Edition): Elegance in the White House," by Breanna Morello (Post Hill Press)

Melania Trump was born in Soviet-controlled Yugoslavia with dreams from an early age of breaking away from the chains of communist rule.

She succeeded beyond her dreams by once again bringing the elegance of Camelot back to the White House.

The author brings her amazing story to the public with commentary and photographs.

"Who can forget that gorgeous blue Ralph Lauren suit from the 2017 inauguration?" wrote Darla in her GoodReads review. "Tomorrow we will see Melania once again step onto our nation's stage as the FLOTUS. I don't know about you, but I will watching to see what she wears."  [Nonfiction]

"Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice," by Virginia Roberts Giuffre (Knopf)

This No. 1 New York Times bestseller is the memoir of Jeffrey Epstein's most visible trafficking victim, who became an advocate for sex trafficked individuals and testified against her abusers.

The author's name once again became public in November when she spoke from the grave and confirmed that although President Donald Trump knew Epstein, "this victim, Virginia Giuffre, publicly said that she never witnessed wrongdoing by … Trump."

"Make no mistake: this is a book about power, corruption, industrial-scale sex abuse and the way in which institutions sided with the perpetrator over his victims," wrote Emma Brockes for The Guardian. "But it is also a book about how a young woman becomes a hero. ... A deft [and] smart book. ... A clear-eyed and necessary account. ... Important [and] courageous."  [Nonfiction]

"Outcast: How the Radical Left Tried to Destroy a Young Conservative," by Gloria Giorno (Liberty Hill Publishing)

This is Gloria Giorno's compelling story of her son Stevie's experience as student body president of Nashville's Belmont University.

It was supposed to have been a "conservative" Christian-based private university. But Stevie made the "mistake" of declaring that he loved his country on Independence Day.

After that admission, the woke social justice warrior mob went after him, and the Black Lives Matter crowd declared that he had to be a racist.

What should have been Stevie's most memorable term there became a nightmare. From that day forward he was judged solely by his refusal to bend to the woke mob rather than his character.

"If you have ever said you fear for this next generation and need both Hope and a swift kick in the faith ... read this book!!" wrote Doug Mathis for Amazon. "Character is not developed under pressure but revealed. This story exemplifies that truth!!"  [Nonfiction]

"Denied Access: A Mitch Rapp Novel," by Vince Flynn & Don Bentley (Atria/Emily Bestler Books)

This is the final book in the trilogy prequel of the immensely popular, white-knuckle Mitch Rapp series.

The CIA is in crisis following the collapse of the Soviet Union and the discovery of the body of the agency's former director candidate in a compromising position.

Making matters worse is the arrest of America's No. 1 Russian asset.

With all that, agency detractors on Capitol Hill question the need for a CIA.

Director Stansfield looks for help from Rapp, a new but promising member of the agency's secretive Orion program.

But Rapp has problems of his own.

"Fierce, uncompromising, and expertly plotted, ‘Denied Access' delivers the Mitch Rapp origin story finale fans have been waiting for — and then some," wrote Ryan Steck for The Real Book Spy. "'Denied Access' is more than just the conclusion to the prequel trilogy. ... It's a callback to what makes Rapp such a special character, and a white-knuckle reminder of why this series remains the gold standard of the political thriller genre."  [Fiction]
