Newsmax Rising Bestsellers — Week of Dec. 8, 2025
(Catiamadio/Dreamstime)

This week's Newsmax Rising Bestsellers gives the reader a roadmap to remain faithful to biblical principles in an ungodly world, while also offering a deep dive within each of the government's three branches.

There is the tale of a U.S. senator's war with his own party, a behind-the-scenes look at the unrelenting legal battles Donald Trump faced in his bid to return to the White House, plus a U.S. Supreme Court justice's journey to the high court and her explanation of how she approaches the Constitution to decide cases.

For fiction, there is a nail-biting psychological thriller.

"Called to Take a Bold Stand: Resilient and Effective Faith for a Godless Age," by Jack Hibbs (Harvest House Publishers)

With a foreword written by Franklin Graham, this instructs the reader to answer the call of God to remain faithful and resolute, and "be diligent" in response to society's division and turmoil.

The publisher says the author will offer practical advice on how to:

  • represent Christ courageously to a world in need;
  • influence our increasingly secular culture in transformative ways;
  • overcome the fear of intimidation or persecution.

"Called to Take a Bold Stand" will show the reader how to make every moment count as he stands boldly in his faith.

"I greatly commend my friend Pastor Jack Hibbs for writing this book," wrote Graham. "It's needed today because it points us right back to the Bible. God's message to us convicts and comforts, encouraging human hearts and redeemed souls to bear the fruit of sanctification to those who believe, practice, and obey His will."  [Nonfiction]

"Dead Center: In Defense of Common Sense," by Joe Manchin, with Nick Saban & Michael Hill contributing (St. Martin's Press)

This lifelong Democrat and West Virginia former governor made headlines when he rejected the woke, anti-American direction in which his party was heading.

In particular, the Democratic Party's green, anti-fossil fuel stance sounded a death knell to his state's coal industry.

By becoming a maverick in the name of common sense, then-Sen. Manchin was considered a pariah and a turncoat in the eyes of party leaders. But actually, he was upholding the party's traditional support for blue-collar Americans.

"Manchin's prose is plainspoken, echoing the conversational tone of a town hall," wrote Templacity. "While not polished literary nonfiction, it reflects his political persona: direct, practical, and rooted in anecdotes. The integration of sports metaphors from Saban adds accessibility for readers outside Washington." [Nonfiction]

"Defiant: Inside the Mar-a-Lago Raid and the Left's Ongoing Lawfare," by Christina Bobb (Skyhorse)

With a foreword written by President Donald Trump, the author joined his legal team to focus on election integrity for the 2024 election.

"Defiant" is her compelling, first-hand account of the unprecedented raid on the then-former president's personal home.

She describes how FBI agents refused to be accompanied by Trump's representatives as they took privileged documents, pawed through personal belongings, and broke locks after being offered keys.

The raid was followed by an unrelenting parade of lawfare in the form of criminal indictments and civil lawsuits filed in federal and state courts directed against Trump and his supporters.

This was done with one goal: for Democrats to remain in power.

Instead, Republicans retained control of the House, flipped the Senate in their favor, and won back the White House. In short, they won the political trifecta.

"UNBELIEVABLE STORY. ... The behind-the-scenes story of the onslaught of lawfare from a weaponized justice department against Donald Trump and his supporters will make your blood boil," wrote Newsmax TV host Carl Higbie. "But the beast the deep state awakened will haunt them. ... After reading this book, Christina Bobb is the LAST person I would ever want to be on the other end of in her pursuit for justice against all of them."  [Nonfiction]

"Listening to the Law: Reflections on the Court and Constitution," by Amy Coney Barrett (Sentinel)

Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett describes her path to the high court, first as a clerk to the well-known Justice Antonin Scalia, later as a popular law professor, followed by her rapid ascension to the highest court in the land, replacing the late liberal icon, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Barrett also describes her role rendering some of the most important decisions of the day while raising seven children.

As an originalist, she applies the facts of each case to the Constitution, using its meaning at the time it was written.

Barrett explains how using that approach led to some of her most momentous opinions.

"A lucid guide to how one Supreme Court justice believes the court should do its work," wrote Kirkus Reviews. "At once accessible and unexpectedly engaging, Barrett's first book distills often complex constitutional ideas into a clear account of the court's work and the philosophy that shapes her approach."   [Nonfiction]

"The Intruder," by Freida McFadden (Poisoned Pen Press)

On a dark and stormy night, a woman named Casey discovers a girl lurking outside the kitchen window of her isolated cabin.

The girl is young, alone, and covered in blood. And she'll neither explain where she's from nor will she release the firm grip she has on the knife clutched in her hands.

Then, as if it's at all possible, events take a turn for the worse after Casey makes a troubling discovery in the middle of the night.

"McFadden brings her usual tight plotting and twists to this massively absorbing work of psychological terror, which will be a winner with her fans and all who enjoy a tense, character-driven read," wrote First Clue reviews.   [Fiction]
