Minn. Protests Expose Media's Latent Racial Bias

For nearly two months, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been verbally and physically abused attempting to enforce federal immigration laws by arresting criminal illegal aliens.

In Minneapolis and many other cities, protesters have resorted to violence, viciously attacking ICE agents with rocks, bottles, firecrackers, and other dangerous objects.

This writer has agreed with President Donald Trump in urging that Democratic Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Gov. J.B. Pritzker, D-Ill., be prosecuted and jailed for failing to protect ICE agents.

Minneapolis Democratic Mayor Jacob Frey and Minn. Gov. Tim Walz deserve the same treatment!

They've seemingly done everything they can to obstruct the implementation of federal immigration laws and incite violence against ICE agents.

The Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association (MPPOA) criticized Frey and other politicians for "irresponsible, reckless rhetoric."

It warned that heated political attacks on law enforcement can have "real and dangerous consequences" saying that it stood "firmly behind law enforcement officers . . . "

What if the tables were turned?

What if the vast majority of those throwing dangerous objects and physically attacking ICE agents in Minnesota, and other cities, were Black instead of predominantly white left-wing liberal progressives.

If Black predominantly Black groups of "protesters" were resisting and obstructing ICE agents and preventing them from arresting convicted Black rapists, murderers, child molesters, and other violent criminals, do you think there would be a comparable anti-ICE outcry from Democrats, including several Democratic governors?

Doubtful.

Do you think Mayor Frey, Gov. Walz and this year's Grammy Award-winning entertainers who attacked ICE, would have had the same hateful comments about ICE if the protesters and the criminals they were defending were Black?

Doubtful.

But, since those battling ICE and defending the "worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens" are primarily white, they have acted with virtual impunity without fear of accountability by the local police department in Minneapolis — leaving ICE to fend for itself.

Therefore, Democratic supporters and their left-wing partners continue to pour more vitriolic hate-filled speech on the anti-ICE fire even urging "doxing" and "unmaskingof ICE agents.

Instead of calling for calmer heads, Democrats are heating up the rhetoric by invoking their old political crutches — Nazis and the Holocaust.

In this space a few months ago, I criticized Democratic politicians for trivializing genocide by comparing ICE to Nazis and the Third Reich's Gestapo.

They have not stopped.

Governor Walz even stooped so low as to compare children he said were trapped in their homes by ICE to Jewish Holocaust victim Ann Frank who hid in her home from the Nazis.

His comment came during the celebration of Holocaust Memorial Day on Jan. 27, 2026 — which marked the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, the largest Nazi death camp.

Walz’s remarks drew a strong rebuke from the U.S. Holocaust Museum: " . . . leaders making . . . false equivalencies to [Frank’s] experience for political purposes is never acceptable."

As I have noted in this space, " . . . it's really saddening that so many Democrats would trivialize the millions of deaths during the Holocaust by comparing ICE to Hitler's Gestapo."

Walz is not the only example.

Philadelphia's Democratic district attorney, Larry Krasner called ICE agents " . . . a small bunch of wannabe Nazis," saying, "If we have to hunt you down the way they hunted down Nazis for decades, we will find your identities. We will find you . . . "

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who is Jewish, rightly condemned Krasner for his comment, saying that such ". . . rhetoric is unacceptable, it is abhorrent, and it is wrong — period, hard stop, end of sentence."

It is truly a disgrace that Democrats, such as Krasner, Frye, and Walz, would compare ICE to Nazis — but, it seems only if the protesters are white and protecting Brown illegal criminal aliens.

The same applies to Democratic members of Congress, such as Congressman Jerald Nadler, D-N.Y., who accused ICE agents of "hiding misbehavior." The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) called his comments and such rhetoric "DESPICABLE."

But Nadler did not stop there.

At a U.S. House Judiciary Committee Hearing, he went so far as to say that people could be justified in shooting federal law enforcement officers such as ICE agents.

These comments were strongly condemned by Vice President JD Vance, who declared, " . . . openly calling for people to shoot federal law enforcement . . . is despicable from an elected official."

Given the above facts, does anyone think there would be such a national outcry against ICE by these and other noted Democrats, their left-wing comrades and mainstream media bedfellows if most of the protesters and the criminals they were defending were Black?

Doubtful.
