Media's Fig Leaf to Hide Biden Frailty Coverup Slips

it is not the crime but the coverup

Many of us recall the classic scene near the end of the classic film with Humphrey Bogart, and Ingrid Bergman, et al., "Casablanca," (1942 Warner Bros.) when Capt. Renault (Claude Rains) orders the closing of Rick’s Café.

He declares he is "Shocked! Shocked to find that gambling is going on in here."

A waiter approaches with a wad of cash: "Your winnings, sir."

Cue the mainstream media reaction in the wake of President Joseph Biden’s debate debacle.

They are shocked.

Beyond surprised to learn that Joe Biden has lost a step or three, or more; that he forgets his point in mid-sentence, that he's a feeble, a tired old man who mumbles and without a teleprompter gets lost.

To reporters in the liberal media posse, led by The New York Times, The Washington Post, CNN and MSNBC, we must ask . . .

  • Where were you for the past two years?
  • Where were they when special prosecutor Robert Hur, last February, declined to file charges against Biden for illegal possession of top secret documents because no jury would convict this "well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory"?

And when the Biden administration then refused Republican demands to release the recording of Hur’s five-hour-long interview?

Or when Biden, in March 2020, tried to recite a line from the Declaration of Independence and said, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, all men and women are created by the — oh, you know, you know the thing!"

Or when Biden wandered off in the wrong direction at a G7 event last month, or had to be guided offstage by former President Barack Obama at a fundraiser?

Only now, after 50 million Americans watched Biden mumble and stumble in the debate against former President Donald Trump on CNN, are members of the media expressing shock and concern about our nation's 46th president's mental capacities.

The question is whether their professed surprise is just a fig leaf to hide their complicity in covering up Biden’s frailty.

Their outsized response has been too panicky and too uniform, as, suddenly, reporters are quoting leaks from worried insiders and asking rude questions they never asked before.

At a White House press briefing last week, reporters grilled White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre on whether President Biden had taken a cognitive test, had he seen a doctor, was he "disabled," would he be willing to undergo a “neurological scan”?

"A neurological scan!???" KJP retorted, flummoxed. "You know better than that."

Now the Times editorial board has called for Biden to step down from running for re-election, as have four leading Times columnists, including three-time Pulitzer Prize winner Thomas L. Friedman and Nobel Prize Laureate Paul Krugman.

The Wall Street Journal reported one day after the debate, "The World Saw Biden Deteriorating. Democrats Ignored the Warnings."

The Times weighed in on July 2 with almost four thousand words put together by four White House reporters and eight contributors, including reporters in Paris, Berlin, Brussels, and Kyiv.

The headline?

"Biden’s Lapses Are Said to Be Increasingly Common and Worrisome."

In New York Magazine, a writer has just revealed that for six months she had been hearing concerns from those close to Biden.

She writes: "Longtime friends of the Biden family… were shocked to find that the president did not remember their names."

One attendee at a White House event last year "recalled, with horror" that Biden was so weak as to raise the prospect that "the president may not really be the acting president after all."

Now she tells us?

It will be difficult for the media to walk back this barrage of doubts they finally have expressed about the president’s fitness for office.

Yet, the most likely outcome is that Joe Biden will stay in the race, and Kamala Harris will remain his running mate.

Their handlers have too much to lose, otherwise, and Democrats dare not push out this pair at the top of the party lest they be accused of a "threefer": racism and sexism (in Kamala’s case) and ageism (in Biden’s).

Even after the recent revelations of Biden’s condition, any move by Democrats to replace geriatric Joe will be driven less by any concern that Biden is incapable of running the country, and more by their real worry: that Biden will lose the election. And they will lose power.
