In a recent but reverberating act on the global stage, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has chosen to cozy up to Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, issuing statements decrying so-called "Trump bullying."

Preliminarily, this may appear to be a new axis of power, a show of defiance against Washington, D.C.

In reality it's a fragile alliance built on shaky ground, and one which will ultimately fail.

The truth is simple: authoritarian and communist regimes cannot be trusted — not with each other, and not with the global economy, or global peace and stability.

Their cooperation is transactional, temporary, and rooted in self-preservation, not mutual prosperity. History has shown time and again that when dictators and one-party states join forces, it is less about building and more about exploiting.

America, on the other hand, has problems of its own — but with President Donald Trump resetting the global economic playing field, the United States is once again becoming the strongest, most reliable, and most transparent economy on Earth.

That's why America, not China, not Russia, and not any artificial alliance, remains the one reliable partner globally.

Tariffs as Insurance, Not Punishment

Critics frequently portray Trump's tariffs as burdensome.

But tariffs paid to the United States are not a punishment — they are an insurance policy.

They guarantee access to the largest consumer market in the world, backed by the rule of law, enforceable contracts, and an economy that wants its partners to grow alongside it.

Nations choosing to engage with the U.S. benefit not just from trade, but from stability.

No other country has done more to build up its partners.

Look no further than postwar Europe, Japan, South Korea, or the countless developing nations that rose from poverty into prosperity through access to American markets and investment.

China: A False Foundation

China, by contrast, does not offer stability.

It manipulates its currency, shields its industries from competition, censors, and makes its trading partners dependent rather than independent. Beijing’s approach is always "me first."

Yes, America helped build China into the economic powerhouse it is today. But the foundation is false.

There is no free market in China — only a tightly controlled, opaque system where the Communist Party makes the rules and rewrites them whenever convenient.

No country can rely on that as a true partner for building its own economy.

India's Missed Opportunity

This is why India's recent alignment is not only misguided but also a historic missed opportunity.

For years, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. manufacturers have been searching for ways to reduce their over-reliance on China.

India was the obvious alternative: a vast democracy with a huge labor force, strategic location, and the potential to become the manufacturing hub of the free world.

But instead of seizing that chance, India risks squandering it by leaning too close to Moscow and Beijing.

These ties may score short-term diplomatic points, but they alienate the very economy — the United States — that could propel India past China in global influence and trade.

If India truly wants to rise, it must look West, not East.

Aligning with the world's most trustworthy economic partner, the U.S., would allow India to attract the manufacturing, investment, and technology it needs to become the next great economic superpower.

America as the Only Reliable Partner

At the end of the day, the world doesn't need more self-serving regimes.

It doesn't need fake markets, manipulated currencies, or authoritarian alliances.

Rather, what the global community is in need of is, reliability, stability, and transparency — the very things that only the United States can offer.

With Trump restoring America’s economic muscle and credibility, the U.S. is once again positioned to be that anchor. Countries that recognize this and deepen their ties with America will find themselves lifted.

Those that chase the mirage of cooperation with regimes like China and Russia will eventually be left behind.

The "theater" we see today between Modi, Putin, and Xi may generate headlines, but it's America that will continue writing the script for global prosperity.

The choice for nations is clear: follow empty promises from authoritarian partners or embrace America as the one true ally for building a stronger, stable, and more prosperous future.
