Two weeks ago, President Donald J. Trump’s joint session de facto State of the Union speech broke former President Bill Clinton’s record for length.
Over 100 minutes.
Mr. Trump offered numerous substantive policy achievements mixed with a hearty helping of political red meat.
The man who faced ballot disqualification efforts, civil and criminal trials, and at least two known assassination attempts returned triumphant and defiant.
Liitle suprise here. He remains triumphant, defiant, and strong.
Following four years of former President Joe Biden's malaise, Trump needed six weeks to proudly declare "America Is Back!"
As for Democrats, the fever that gripped them when Trump made his famous walk down the escalator in 2015, is as strong as ever.
Trump, former President George W. Bush (Bush "43"), and pretty much every Republican since Abraham Lincoln creates a visceral anger within Democrats.
No surprise here either. Democrats hate Trump and his supporters not because of any words spoken or deeds done, but because we exist.
This ideological bigotry is pathological.
Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris left their party rudderless.
Former U.S. House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., is done, biting her lip to restrain herself. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., remains ineffective.
Luckily, there is good news for Democrats amidst the wreckage.
They finally have a leader who perfectly represents their values.
Congratulations to Rep. Al Green, D-Texas.
We should still be offering our thanks to him.
Democrats may deny it, but they're all Al Green.
He pushed impeachment moments after Trump was sworn into office in 2017.
Initially dismissed as a crackpot, Democrats eventually followed Green.
The impeachments failed, but this is irrelevant.
Democrats are about feelings, not results.
Green is prepared to push left-wing lemmings over the political cliff again.
Green’s ploy for media attention had him imitating the town square drunk. Green shouted incoherent blather until Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., had the House Sergeant at Arms remove him.
While Green was the only one removed, Democrats followed his lead with rude and immature behaviors.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., spent the entire speech texting.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and others held up signs with numerous anti-Trump slogans on them. Those signs quickly became ridiculed internet memes.
Others dressed like the Code Pink radicals who play a key role in their collapsing coalition.
Other Democrats boycotted Trump’s speech.
This has as much effect as a woman giving her ex-husband the silent treatment while he watches football.
Green's acolytes' worst behavior was stone cold silence.
Democrats refused to stand up and clap for courageous non-partisan Americans.
Democrats scowled angrily at recently released hostage Marc Fogel and his 95-year-old mother. Democrats scowled angrily at 18-year-old Jason Hartley, who was informed he had been accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Democrats scowled angrily at the families of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray.
Democrats saved their worst for one of the most beautiful moments in the history of any political event anywhere.
13-year-old Devarjaye "DJ" Daniel became an instant feel-good hero. Diagnosed with cancer at age seven and given six months to live, Daniel lives six years later.
His dream of becoming a police officer saw him receive multiple honorary deputizations in his city of Houston, Texas. Trump announced that Daniel would be made an honorary United States Secret Service agent.
If any moment could unify people, this was it.
Daniel’s proud father hoisted his son into the air. Young Daniel hugged Secret Service Director Sean Curran.
House Republicans loudly chanted "DJ" over and over. Daniel pumped his fist in the air as Director Curran was thrust into his second most iconic pumped fist photo.
Democrats sat there soulless, heartless, and bloodless.
Democrats known for screaming "Love Trumps Hate" showed the world that they loved a black child with cancer far less than they hated Trump.
While much of this may seem to be "old news," what's never old news is the state of our politics, and the Democratic Party . . . here and now.
In short, this is who the Democrats are.
They are the people who attack everyday Americans as:
- "Deplorables,"
- "Irredeemables,"
- "Neanderthals," and last, but not the least of it . . .
- "Smelly Walmart people."
Trump more than astutely noted, and declared: "They’re not after me. They’re after you. I’m just in the way!"
DJ Daniel was in the way. Trump honored DJ, so Democrats would not. 70% of the people liked Trump’s optimistic speech, rejecting leftist bile.
At least Democrats are finally being honest.
The party of Thomas Jefferson, FDR and JFK is now Al Green’s party.
They hate normal America, and its inhabitants.
The disgust is mutual.
Democrats used to hide their destructive policies behind optimistic rhetoric and behavior.
Now Democrats just curse and snarl like rabid dogs unleashed from societal constraints.
Trump will keep leading.
Speaker Johnson and Senate Majority Leader John Thune will keep governing.
Elon Musk will keep "DOGE-ing" and reducing.
"Al Green Democrats" will keep screaming.
But you can bet, voters will continue ignoring the "Greeniacs."
If Democrats want to be a legitimate political party again rather than a radical fringe movement, they need to ignore their Texas congressional leader.
They would learn a lot more by following the legendary soul singer, the real Al Green.
He would tell everyone to, "Put A Little Love In Your Heart."
DJ Daniel deserves this, as does the rest of normal America.
