As an automotive expert and founder of Car Coach Reports, I visited the show floor of the 125th New York International Auto Show firsthand, and I can provide an inside look at the latest models — what car dealers and manufacturers are likely to bring to market in the upcoming months, from electric innovations to performance upgrades to award-winning, head-turning models.

Kia

Kia made a splash at the show, unveiling some incredible new models. The new Kia K4 Wagon is a hatchback-style wagon with a fuel-efficient 1.6-liter engine that is ideal for entry-level buyers. It also has excellent storage space.

In addition, Kia unveiled the 2026 Kia EV4, which will join the automaker’s growing electric lineup.

The automaker will release the EV9 in the stunning Nightfall Edition trim. Like previous Nightfall editions, it will feature gloss-black wheels, dark Kia emblems, stunning gloss-black exterior accents, and a black-on-black interior.

Fix notes that Kia’s designers are likely being given more freedom, leading to bold, exciting new styles that are fresh and unique.

The South Korean automaker is delivering incredible vehicles, and its Kia EV3 was awarded the 2025 World Car of the Year.

Hyundai

Hyundai made waves with their completely revamped 2026 Palisade, which received a complete redesign with new luxury features at a non-premium price point. The automaker will also offer an XRT Pro Pack for light off-roading that will feature all-wheel drive, different terrain modes, and a built-in tow hook and hitch.

Volkswagen

At this year’s show, Volkswagen also didn’t disappoint, unveiling their newest performance car, the 2026 Tiguan SEL R-Line Turbo. The vehicle will be a top trim level featuring a 2-liter engine with 67 more horsepower and 51 more pound-feet torque than the base trim.

Subaru

Subaru showed off their new Outback and Outback Wilderness models, featuring all-wheel drive for an adventurous, off-roading experience.

Stellantis

Stellantis celebrated 100 years at the show with an anniversary display that showed off some of its iconic older vehicles and newer models. The automaker is also bringing back the Dodge Charger Daytona with a hybrid motor, an exciting move that will expand consumer’s choices of powertrains.

They also revealed the limited-run, off-road 2025 Jeep Wagon Overland, an all-new vehicle with 32-inch all-terrain tires, quadra-lift air suspension, a two-speed transfer case, and skid plates.

Genesis

Genesis debuted exciting news about their entry into the hypercar and racing category. The automaker showed off their new race team, Genesis Magma Racing (GMR) livery and race suits. They also displayed the full-scale version of their GMR-001 Hypercar. In the near future, the team will compete in the International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans event.

The brand also revealed the new Grand X Coupe, a concept blends off-roading with premium design. If it progresses from concept to production, it will be the automaker’s entry into the off-roading category and a potential competitor to Land Rover.

Ford

On April 17, the Mustang turned 61 years old, and the vehicle was displayed at the World’s Fair in New York. Ford is still the best selling sports car since 1965.

2025 World Car Award Results

The Importance of Auto Shows

The 2025 New York International Auto Show brilliantly showcased the diversity of the industry’s future across EVs, hybrids, gas, off-roaders, and luxury performance. It reflects how essential auto shows are not just for the media but also consumers, automakers, and dealers.

Consumers benefit from the hands-on experience and brand access under one roof. It’s the best way for consumers to understand what’s new in the market and better understand their wants. For automakers, it is the perfect way to reach customers and an easy way to get on their radar. Dealers can use the insights they gain and the awards as powerful sales tools when the new models hit the pavement.
