Amtrak will no longer invest in diversity, equity and inclusion programs, and is requiring employees to report to the office four days a week, a company spokesperson confirmed.

The federally chartered corporation informed workers of the changes in an email Thursday, with the office mandate going into effect on March 3 and the DEI policy becoming effective immediately, Bloomberg reports.

U.S. corporations have swiftly put an end to their DEI policies after President Trump made it clear he wanted to quell DEI in private corporations and the federal government.

Trump has asked government agencies to investigate potentially “illegal DEI” policies. The president has also directed federal employees to return to in-person work.

Amazon, Meta, and Walmart are among the dozens of companies that have put an end to their DEI programs in recent months.

In June 2023, the Supreme Court struck down affirmative action in college admissions, declaring race cannot be a factor. Since then, institutions of higher education and U.S. companies have sought new ways to achieve diverse student bodies and workforces.

Chief Justice John Roberts said that for too long universities have “concluded, wrongly, that the touchstone of an individual’s identity is not challenges bested, skills built, or lessons learned but the color of their skin. Our constitutional history does not tolerate that choice.”
