Germany, France, and Britain, and the European Commission issued a joint statement Wednesday in support of Ukraine and said they would work with the United States on its future.
"We are looking forward to discussing the way ahead together with our American allies. Our shared objectives should be to put Ukraine in a position of strength," the countries, which also included Poland, Italy, and Spain, said.
President Donald Trump discussed the war in Ukraine on Wednesday in phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Trump's first big step toward diplomacy over a war he has promised to end.
