Max Lucado to Newsmax: Angst-Filled Youth 'Uprooted' From Faith

By    |   Saturday, 07 September 2024 01:37 PM EDT

There has never been a generation as anxious as the younger generation is now, and that is because "we've been uprooted from our faith," pastor and best-selling author Max Lucado told Newsmax on Saturday.

"Many people are uprooted from their families, uprooted from a confidence that society is going to work everything out," Lucado, the author of a new book "What is Next: A Traveler's Guide Through the End of this Age," told "Saturday Report."

The conflict, he added, is rooted in fear.

"There was a day when I was growing up, nobody carried a gun into a school, and now we have these children and young people who live in that fear," Lucado said.

Lucado, who has been dubbed "America's Pastor," preaches at the Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas.

He urged those who are feeling angst to have faith "that we serve a good God who has everything under control," he said Saturday.

The Bible tells the faithful what they can expect, Lucado added.

"All believers in Christ trust in heaven, right? And that's beautiful," he said. "The Bible prepares us for a day of surprise in which God will come for his church. The Bible speaks of a difficult season yet to come called the tribulation. The Bible talks about a thousand-year period of peace and prosperity. All of these are seasons ahead that we can understand. And it brings me encouragement because it reminds me that God is in the cockpit. He's still in control, and he's going to get us all home safely."

Lucado urges people worried about world events, such as the war between Russia and Ukraine and the situation with Israel to remember "not just that God made the world, but that God loves the world."

"He has a vision that was declared in the Garden of Eden that we would forever live with him in a perfect paradise, perfect relationships, perfect harmony, and perfect relationship with him," the pastor said. "All you have to do is say 'yes' to Him.

"The times between now and the end, they're going to be tough. Jesus said they would be. He said in this world you will have tribulation, but 'be of good cheer, because I've overcome the world.'"
