Gloria Estefan took to Instagram to let her fans know she contracted the coronavirus. The 63-year-old South Florida resident said she had COVID-19 last month in an Instagram post Tuesday. After losing her sense of taste and smell, she decided to get tested and received a positive test on Nov. 8 but has since tested negative twice.
Estefan said she thinks she got the virus while dining outdoors with family members, according to NBC 6. In her Instagram video, the Cuban-born singer and entrepreneur said a fan approached her while she was dining and got very close to talk to her.
“I was very lucky, but I just want to share with you that I was in quarantine, and one day I went out and met with one person who was not wearing a mask. I held my breath through their talk, but something must have happened there,” she said in her post.
She credits a regimen of vitamins for helping her get through the ordeal, including vitamins D3, C, multivitamins, and zinc. She also took Gatorade Zero and melatonin before bedtime during the health crisis to help boost her immune system.
According to The Washington Post, the White House Coronavirus Task Force has asked states to help regulate maskless gatherings that “cause ongoing transmission, frequently infecting multiple people in a single gathering.” The task force also asks people to adhere to social distancing measures and other preventive procedures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
