Drew Johnson - Biography


Drew Johnson is the national director of Protect Internet Freedom and a senior fellow at the Taxpayers Protection Alliance.

Johnson is known for infusing investigative reporting and policy research in order to expose government waste, corruption, and hypocrisy. These efforts have made him a frequent guest on national television and radio programs. His columns and articles have appeared in scores of newspapers, magazines, and scholarly journals.

He is the founder and former president of the Beacon Center of Tennessee, the Volunteer State’s free market think-tank. He also served as the opinion page editor at the Chattanooga Times Free Press and an editorial writer and columnist at The Washington Times.

Johnson is a former member of the Tennessee Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. He has also served on the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth and the National Ethnic and Cultural Diversity Committee of the Coalition for Juvenile Justice.

A native of Johnson City, Tenn., he earned a B.S. from Belmont University and a Masters in Public Policy from Pepperdine University. Johnson lives in Las Vegas with his wife, Sarah.
