Pete Hoekstra - Public Policy Perspective

Pete Hoekstra - Biography

Pete Hoekstra represented Michigan for 18 years in Congress as chairman of the U.S. House Intelligence Committee and as a leading bipartisan voice on policy and oversight of national security, education, labor, and economic issues.

He currently serves as the Shillman senior fellow at the Investigative Project on Terrorism, the world’s most comprehensive data center on radical Islamist terror groups. Hoekstra is also active in the private sector. He is senior adviser at Dickstein Shapiro LLP in the firm’s public policy and law practice, where he provides business consulting on intelligence, cybersecurity, education, and labor matters.

He serves on the board of directors of Gentex, Inc. and West Michigan Community Bank, as well as on the advisory boards of Newsmax Media, Inc. and TransCertain. As one of the few U.S. Congressmen with experience as a Fortune 500 business executive — having held the title of vice president of marketing for office furniture manufacturer Herman Miller — Hoekstra brings a unique blend of expertise and perspective to the global marketplace and public policy arena.
