Getting Joe Out of the White House Can Be Done

President Joe Biden’s less than stellar performance in his debate with former President Donald Trump last month followed by a stumbling presentation at the NATO summit caused numerous politicians and political commentators to come together and pressure Biden to drop his re-election bid.

Undoubtedly, this purge of a sitting president by the overlords of the Democratic Party was engineered following the release of numerous polls showing that Biden was destined to get buried in the November election at the hands of former President Donald Trump.

Although there are few things more important than preserving the Democratic Party and its legacy of goodness and light, this ousting of Biden as the 2024 nominee was apparently necessary to preserve "democracy" and "the American way."

It began with the demands by nearly two dozen U.S. House Democrats (most of whom you have never heard of) that Biden should end his candidacy immediately.

This chorus was soon followed calls by Sen. Peter Welch, D-Vt., for Biden to drop out for the good of the nation (and, not coincidentally, the down ballot candidates), in an op-ed article for The Washington Post.

Further fuel was added to the fire when Sen. Michael Bennet, D-Colo., who had been surprisingly candid in his assessment of the dim prospects for the Biden candidacy, declared that the Biden campaign was destined to be buried in a Trump electoral landslide.

Others such as former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi were more circumspect, suggesting that it was up to President Biden to decide whether he should continue in the race.

Biden, for his part, tried to ignore his detractors, reasoning that he had become the presumptive Democratic nominee on March 12, 2024, having won 3,896 delegates with his nearest challenger, Rep. Dean Phillips, D-Minn., having finished a close second with four delegates.

But Biden announced that he would not continue his "Weekend at Bernie’s" re-election campaign in a press release on July 21 even though he was the one who collected some 15 million votes in winning every single Democratic primary.

But Biden’s decision to suspend his campaign was not enough for many detractors who argued that he should resign the presidency immediately, due to his cognitive limitations.

  • So what if the same shadowy power brokers that forced Biden to end his pursuit of a second term also wanted to force him to resign from office in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris?
  • What sorts of incentives or threats could they bring to bear to force Biden to quit the presidency?

First, they could resume their effort to badger Joe Biden into resigning by having everyone who is anyone in the Democratic Party constellation try to push, urge, demand or convince Biden to vacate the office for the good of the country.

Unfortunately for them, Biden’s reported fury at being forced out of the race would make it very easy for him to ignore these pleas for him to act for the good of the party.

Moreover, Dr. Jill Biden (perhaps the nation’s co-president), who is seemingly her husband’s most influential adviser, appears to enjoy the trappings of power and would not want to leave the White House before the end of his term.

Furthermore, "Dr. Jill" is apparently not a fan of Vice President Harris and would prefer to continue propping her husband up for his occasional public appearances than to see Kamala Harris move into 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue before the next president takes the oath of office in January 2025.

Biden’s adversaries could try to impeach him pursuant to Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution. He could then be removed from office if he was convicted for "treason, bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors."

Certainly, the Democratic Party is very familiar with the impeachment process, having used it against Donald Trump, so they would not need very much time to fill out the paperwork.

But it would still require a messy trial in the U.S. Senate and necessarily reveal a lot of dirty laundry that is currently buried in the party’s clothes hamper.

However, the 25th Amendment to the Constitution might provide a more streamlined process for getting Biden out the door.

If Vice President Harris and a majority of the principal officers of the executive departments (e.g., the Cabinet) sent a written declaration to the president pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives that President Biden was unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, then Vice President Harris would assume the powers and duties of the office as acting president (which would represent the first sign of the Apocalypse).

She would presumably continue to serve as the pretend president for the remainder of Biden’s term.

Perhaps the simplest way to convince Joe Biden to leave office now would be for the party to put together a very generous retirement package consisting of:

1.) at least $50 million in cash, 2.) a massive slush fund to build a presidential library at least twice the size of the Obama library with a Jill Biden wing and a gift shop featuring such items as original Hunter Biden finger paintings and leather-bound copies of Dr. Jill’s doctoral dissertation, and 3.) multi-million dollar annuities for all of the Biden family members (including all the grandchildren — however many there may be).

Joe and Jill might welcome the opportunity to kick back and enjoy a less stressful, donor-funded lifestyle.

Indeed, there might be more than enough money for Joe and Jill to build a full-scale model of the White House that they could continue to occupy for the rest of their lives as "America’s Forever First Couple."
