What do you do if you're in politics and you can’t win at the ballot box, or in Congress, or public opinion polls?
The latest answer from Democrats, and organizations aligned with them, seems to be to sue your opponents.
A recent ABC news story announced that, as of late April, the Trump administration has been sued over 220 times.
The article noted that this is an "unprecedented legal blitz."
So far, the litigation has been a mixed bag for both those bringing the suits, and for the Trump administration.
While lower courts have blocked many of Trump’s initiatives, especially as they relate to immigration, the administration has also [logged] some wins.
Of the 220 lawsuits, some 60 have been related to the administration’s actions on illegal immigration, most notably deportations.
For those who were sick of the policies of the Biden administration allowing millions of illegal immigrants to enter our country, the main frustrations with many of the court rulings have been two-fold.
First, there is a widely held belief that plaintiffs have gone judge shopping, meaning they have intentionally filed their lawsuits where courts and judges are known to be sympathetic to liberal causes.
Additionally, there has been frustration that district judges, who represent only one geographic area, have in some cases been able to delay policies that apply to the entire nation, rather than one geographic area.
In what Democrats hailed as a blow to the Trump administration - a May 16, 2025 U.S. Supreme Court procedural ruling blocked the Trump administration from using the Alien Enemies Act to deport illegal Venezuelans the government has identified as being gang members.
However, the high court left the door open for the administration to continue deportations using other authority.
In an interview, during which he discussed the ruling, Harvard Law Professor Alan Dershowitz said he believes the Supreme Court missed the mark in their ruling.
Although he did not take issue with the ruling itself, he confirmed that judge shopping happens, and clarified as to why it's a problem:
"They failed to ask the hardest question. The hardest question is 'What if you have one thing, the executive order, unconstitutional, and I’m enjoining it, and another judge in the next state saying, no, no, no, it’s perfectly OK, and you should continue to use it?'
They really didn’t address that question because that’s what really will happen," Dershowitz said.
Although difficult to follow, my interpretation of this is Dershowitz believes it is a problem when one or two judges can issue an order that impacts the entire nation.
He further believes there needs to be a solution in the form of a law to address this situation.
"Congress should pass a statute creating a new court like the FISA Court, five judges, and only they can issue nationwide injunctions," he said.
Shortly following the above highlighted Supreme Court ruling, Mike Davis (a conservative lawyer who supports President Trump) commented on social media that the high court ruling was preventing the administration from carrying out President Trump’s promises on deportation.
Additionally, he observed, "The President should house these terrorists near the Chevy Chase Country Club, with daytime release." Many on the left went ballistic when President Trump reposted the comments on Truth Social.
Why were these comments a big deal?
The answer is it's well known that Chief Justice John Roberts likes to play golf at that country club, so the left interpreted this as a threat against the Supreme Court.
Although the headline on the story is that Trump is unhinged for reposting this, the truth is that this story is a perfect example of why it is really the left that is unhinged.
Their lack of self-awareness is one of the reasons why President Trump is so popular.
Those on the left not only lack self-awareness; they are also hypocrites.
They criticize Trump for supposedly threatening the Supreme Court, yet these same people were largely silent when then Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., made threatening remarks about a Supreme Court abortion decision in 2020, calling out Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanagh by name.
There has also been no mass condemnation by those on the left for former FBI Director James Comey’s post of seashells arranged to read "86 47." Many, including the President himself, took this as a call for President Trump’s assassination.
When you combine Comey’s lame excuse that he did not realize the number "86" could be interpreted as a call for violence with the silence of those on the left, you realize that the left is really not concerned about threatening language.
They're only concerned with ways in which they can try to score cheap political points.
It's sad that the Democratic Party, which was at one time a great political party, is now a shell of its former self, one largely controlled by left wing radicals.
If elected Democrats spent half as much time trying to help their constituents as they spend trying to assist illegal immigrant gang members, our country would be a much better place to live.
That's why I believe the lawsuits against the Trump administration will fail.
The people know that President Trump is keeping his promises and working to address issues they care the most about. He's working to take care of the peoples' business, and, in the end, I believe that will be rewarded.
