Whether due to coercive compromise on the part of Beijing, White House incompetence, or a combination of both, there are lots of good reasons for bad concerns regarding current U.S. policies and occurrences in China.
Here are ten of them.
1. Beijing's Announced Taiwan Takeover
There was and is no known pushback by the White House in response to a reported declarative statement by China's President Xi Jinping to President Joe Biden during their November San Francisco face-to-face discussions that his regime intends to take control of Taiwan by 2027 using force if necessary.
Such unchallenged hostilities will also directly threaten security of other allied South China Sea nations including Japan and the Philippines.
2. Adversarial Coalition Building
In December 2021, President Xi and his Russian counterpart President Vladimir Putin agreed to cooperate in issuing a joint warning to the U.S. and our regional allies not to meddle with their common expansionist military agendas.
Both China and Russia have extended crucial support to Iran, the world's leading sponsor of Middle East terrorism as the Biden administration has provided Tehran with $6 billion in oil sanctions relief while Beijing benefits by buying up to 90% of that supply.
3. Reserve Currency Replacement
Beijing is working to create an alternative to undermine and replace the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency, a system which enables enforcement of sanctions against adversarial regimes.
China, now the largest source of international development finance, has already entered into agreements with BRICS countries — including Brazil, Russia, India, and Iran — as well as various Middle Eastern nations — to settle trade disputes in local currencies.
4. Strategic Spying
President Biden disbanded former President Donald Trump's China Initiative established to combat technical spying at universities and research institutions, a DOJ decision successfully lobbied by his China funded University of Pennsylvania Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement.
Meanwhile, the Biden White House reportedly attempted to conceal knowledge of a trans-U.S. Chinese spy balloon that drifted for two weeks across key strategic sites, while questions remain regarding unknown efforts to prevent Beijing from establishing a reported eavesdropping facility in Cuba, roughly 100 miles from Florida.
5. Intellectual Property Theft
Along with termination of the Trump China Initiative to identify and prosecute theft of hundreds of billions of dollars a year in American trade secrets and intellectual property, the Biden administration has also proposed a change to U.S. patent policy that could have been drafted in Beijing which will cut protection for especially important standards-essential patents (SEPs).
Included are technologies key to safeguarding American economic leadership such as 5G communications and quantum computing.
6. Supply Chain Strangulation
Thanks largely to cheap labor and coercive foreign intellectual property transfers/infringements, China became the world's largest exporter of goods in 2009, the largest trading nation in goods in 2013, and our largest outsourced supplier (18.1%).
This dangerous pattern of dependence entails nearly endless items including finished products and key components ranging from medical equipment and pharmaceuticals to critical components for U.S. military goods, some of which increase threats of sabotaged equipment and espionage.
7. Rare Earth Mineral Monopoly
Biden administration regulatory warfare on fossil energy needed to reliably power our industry, air condition our homes and fuel our transportation ensures reliance upon China for about 80% of the global supply of vital rare earth material-dependent electronics used in an endless variety of 21st century technologies.
Included is the manufacturing of domestic and strategic military airplanes, computers and smart phones; electricity generation and transmission systems; advanced weapon guidance systems; and yes, all those new solar panels, wind turbines and batteries for utility-scale energy storage and electric vehicles (EVs).
8. Climate, Energy Charades
As China gets a United Nations sweetheart pass from commitments to Paris climate Agreement carbon cutbacks, it uses profits from selling discounted "zero-emission" solar panels and wind turbines to purchase more than 100 million barrels of oil daily each from Iran and Russia to support their wars in Israel and Ukraine.
This transparent "green energy" sham continues while China builds the equivalence of about two new coal-fired plants weekly.
9. Southern Border Invasion
About 24,000 unvetted illegal Chinese immigrants crossed the Biden administration's virtually open southern U.S. border in 2023, many of whom appear to be military age males potentially representing a massive national security threat.
The porous border also transferred mass quantities of deadly fentanyl and related products mostly produced in China — about ten tons in FY23 alone which have killed tens of thousands of American each year since Biden reversed Trump closed border policies.
10. A Compromised White House
With direct references to then-President-elect Joe Biden's son Hunter's family business dealings in the communist country, a recorded November 2020 lecture by Di Dongsheng, vice dean of the School of International Relations at Renmin University, boasted that Beijing had infiltrated "people at the top of America's core inner circle."
Di asserted that under resistance from then-President Trump, "During the U.S.-China trade war, [Wall Street] tried to help and I know that my friends on the U.S. side told me that they tried to help, but they couldn't do much," adding that a Biden presidency would benefit China.
And that, friends, is the best reason for worst worry of all.
