Many on the right are still reeling from the losses of the 2022 midterms.
An election that should have been more than a "slam dunk" for the GOP.
Some staked everything on Nov. 8 — believing it would be the right's day of salvation.
Now, summer soldiers and sunshine patriots are throwing in the towel, giving up hope, and even encouraging others to drop out of the fight.
But Why?
Even if the elections had gone exactly as they hoped, that still would not have been enough to turn America around.
After all, this is not a sprint; it's a marathon.
We didn’t get here overnight, and we won’t fix our problems overnight.
In fact . . . the fight for liberty never ends.
No one ever promised that the fight for America would be easy or convenient or always go our way. Yet one of the things making America unique is that for all of our history, we have never given up on liberty.
Does that same spirit of defiant resilience still run in our blood today?
When General George Washington was stationed at Valley Forge in the winter of 1776-1777, hopelessness and despondency were palpable.
Yet, Washington and his soldiers never gave up.
Thousands of Washington's best men suffered for months without blankets or shoes in the unforgiving rain, snow, and cold.
They were also famished and without proper shelter.
An estimated 2,000 died of diseases. But not even the bitter New Jersey winds could put out the fire for freedom burning in their hearts.
They were willing to lay it all on the line.
When millions of our boys were sent to fight foreign wars during World War II, how many on the home front felt like giving in?
And yet, the Greatest Generation struck down Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and Imperial Japan.
Not because of fear but because of faith. Giving up was never an option.
In more recent history, when the Twin Towers fell on Sept. 11, 2001, and the Pentagon burned, and thousands of innocent Americans perished on our own soil — we did not give up. We came together as one people, and with one voice, to let the world know that America was not going anywhere.
As then-President George W. Bush said, "And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon!"
Americans don’t give up. It isn’t in our nature.
For those advocating quitting we say go ahead.
As Sam Adams said, "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace.
"We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
Perhaps harsh — but sometimes the truth is difficult.
But while the cynics and fainthearted give up, those who carry the spirit of this country, those who believe in this unparalleled experiment in liberty, will not waiver.
We are going to continue to raise up the biggest, most powerful, most motivated, self-governing grassroots movement in history.
And just like Washington’s army, this one will never back down.
We will continue to be involved in elections all over the country, spending our time organizing and fighting — not simply complaining and surrendering.
While the political pundits’ attention is fixated on national elections, we will keep our efforts directed at winning on the state and local level, which ultimately will result in national victories as well.
This is our time to stand.
This is our time to earn the legacy of freedom for which so many have sacrificed.
It's not the time to quit. It is not the time to surrender to the enemies of liberty.
Rest assured that victory will neither be easy or fast.
The fight for liberty is not like grabbing lunch at a drive-thru fast-food restaurant.
It's inconsistent with our culture of immediate gratification.
In fact, victory may not come in any one of our individual lifetimes.
And yet, duty calls us — if we choose to answer.
Our forefathers gave their lives for this country, facing unimaginable sacrifices across centuries. Are we really about to throw it all away because one election didn’t go our way?
Because "it’s not fair," because "The Media" or "Big Tech" are biased against us?
Is that really how weak we have become as a people?
We know our heritage.
We know that America has been, and can continue to be, a singular beacon of light, hope and liberty in the world. In honor of those who came before us, and in service to those generations yet unborn, we will not surrender.
We will fight.
As President Abraham Lincoln said in his famous "Gettysburg Address," "It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.
"It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us — that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion — that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain — that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom — and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
We cannot say whether or not we will prevail in any given fight or even in the end. But the obligation to fight for what is right and just is upon us, and we, as Americans, shall always rise to the occasion.
