Message to GOP: Soft Blows Against Biden Won't Work

One of the purposes of the Republican presidential debates is to give reasons to Americans for voting against U.S. President Joe Biden.

The candidates should do so by clearly pointing out Biden's flaws.

The candidates in the recent, first Republican debate should have done a better job of this.

Based on the candidates' statements it's unclear if the candidates' statements would have convinced Democrats and independents to vote against President Biden.

The GOP candidates did not discuss (or only briefly mentioned) the following:

Possible Biden Family Corruption: The U.S. special counsel investigations into both Joe and Hunter Biden; the collapsed plea bargain regarding Hunter, the multiple U.S. House investigations into the Biden family, the Hunter Biden laptop, government pressure of social media to censor stories about the laptop, and the 51 former intelligence officials who falsely claimed the laptop was Russian disinformation.

Considering all of these areas, it's baffling that the candidates would fail to mention these obvious points for criticism of Team Biden and the Biden family.

Biden's Foreign Policy: America's disastrous departure from Afghanistan, the renegotiation of the Iran nuclear deal, the failure to shoot down a China spy balloon until after it traversed the United States (and some of its key nuclear sites!).

Also, China's new base in Cuba and unlawful police stations throughout the United States, as well as increased aggression by Russia (such as attacks against U.S. drones).

The president is the commander in chief!

As such, Republican candidates must explain how a Republican president would protect America better than Joe Biden and his administration have.

Biden's Domestic Policy: The failure of real wages to keep up with inflation; the rise in the prices of gas, food, and everyday items; the increase in crime and the brazen robberies in America's biggest cities; the Department of Justice's targeting of parents; censorship from various government agencies; and failures in the education systems such as, in 23 Baltimore schools, where zero students had proficiency in math and, in Chicago, where 55 schools claim that students can't engage in reading or math at appropriate grade levels.

Keeping Biden's disastrous foreign and domestic policies front and center, candidates must explain that it's a mandatory role for the president to work to improve the lives of all Americans.

As a general matter, candidates, especially in the debates phase of a presidential campaign, need to be more specific in their enumerations of the Biden administration's many flaws.

It's not enough to allude to a topic and assume that Americans are aware or yet, informed about it.

Many watching the debates may not have heard of some the problems which the Biden administration has created.

The lack of the public's knowledge in these areas may stem from faulty, left media which an appreciable number of viewers consume, as well as the failure of Republicans to tell their version of events on television, print, and social media.

Candidates should use debates as an opportunity to inform and teach Americans about how Biden's presidency hurts America.

It's true that most of the moderators' questions did not explicitly refer to the topics discussed above.

But, it still falls on Republican presidential candidates to use debate questions as a jumping-off point to articulate these criticisms of the Biden White House.

By genuinely participating (and not effectively being a mere spectator) in the debates, each candidate has an opportunity to affect the outcome of Election 2024.

Soft blows against Biden and the left won't do the trick. Being prepared and being ready to address the harmful Biden agenda head-on are essential.

This is no time for the GOP to hesitate.

By participating in the debates, each of the candidates has an opportunity to affect the outcome of the 2024 presidential election. They should embrace this opportunity to further the GOP's cause.
