Democrats Oppose Anyone Just Doing Their Job

It's hard in American politics to take sides in favor of crime and illegal immigration.

But the Democrats are managing to do it by falling into Trump's trap of opposing ICE agents and fomenting and condoning violence against them.

As attacks on ICE agents mount, it's becoming clear that the left is vilifying these brave men and women who are doing their jobs and working to arrest and deport those who are here illegally.

In doing so, the left is taking a consensus American issue — that illegals ought to be removed from the country, making it a political question.

They come out the losers every time.

Democrats have largely learned to pretend to oppose crime and not to be caught in public urging light sentences and opposing incarceration of repeat felons, but they have not learned this lesson in connection with ICE agents.

They are opposing men and women who are just doing their job and enforcing the law.

They risk being labeled as pro-illegal immigration and becoming politically marginalized.

The left does not realize — and will not accept — that Latinos largely support ICE and understand even when occasional errors occur and citizens are wrongly targeted.

ICE agents will not be made into the Bull Connors of the immigration debate.

When ICE asks the courts for the right to stop, question, and frisk people who congregate in areas frequented by illegal immigrants, the courts, and the public, including Hispanics largely approve.
