Democrats are Bringing a Decade of Defeat on Themselves

The Los Angeles anti-deportation riots are both symptomatic and emblematic of an immutable law of the Democratic Party: When it loses an election, it always moves further left, turning a bad election night into a decade of electoral defeat.

The party always responds to defeat by making things worse and becoming more radical.

It happened in 1968 after Richard Nixon beat Hubert Humphrey.

Rather than learn their lesson and move to the center, Democrats careened further left and nominated George McGovern in 1972, an electoral disaster.

Jimmy Carter, most certainly on the left, was elected president in 1976.

Likewise, after Reagan defeated Jimmy Carter in 1980, the Democratic Party responded by nominating first Walter Mondale in 1984 and then Michael Dukakis in 1988.

It wasn't until 12 years after the Carter defeat that the party found its footing by nominating Bill Clinton in 1992.

And so, it's happening again.

By demonstrating against ICE agents enforcing the law, the left is flying in the face of a consensus that these folks are not welcome in America. The Democratic Party is making itself totally unelectable as it embraces the demonstrators' cause.

The public's reaction will not be as charitable as it was after the Black Lives Matter (BLM) demonstrations of 2020. Then, an outrage — the police murder of George Floyd — triggered mass protests and a re-evaluation of police tactics throughout the nation.

But here, in Los Angeles, the ICE is being castigated for simply enforcing the law and doing its job.

When Americans read about the criminal records of those we are deporting, any sympathy will evaporate.

For example, on June 8, ICE agents in Los Angeles arrested Eswin Uriel Castro, a previously deported illegal alien who has been convicted of molesting a child and being armed with a deadly weapon.

Castro has been charged with robbery and domestic violence as well.

Similarly, ICE agents arrested illegal alien Rafael Gamez-Sanchez, who has been convicted of vehicular manslaughter, and Anastacio Enrique Solis-Salinas, an illegal immigrant from Nicaragua who has child cruelty charges against him and has been convicted of domestic violence, as well as hit-and-run.

Miguel Angel Palafox-Montes, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who self-deported twice before, was arrested by ICE agents.

Palafox-Montes has been convicted of grand theft, narcotics violations, identity theft, and charged with battery and burglary.

Does the Democratic Party seriously believe it can rebuild itself by embracing such people?
