It's hard to believe, but true: Democrats love illegal aliens more than Big Government itself.

The Republican-led U.S. House passed a "clean" continuing resolution on Sept. 19, 217-212. It would have kept the federal government open through Nov. 21, well past Fiscal Year 2025’s conclusion on Sept. 30.

Republicans performed their responsibility to finance Uncle Sam's activities, from Social Security to the Secret Service.

They voted Yea by a 216-2 margin, with 99.1% of Republicans present agreeing to keep federal doors open.

House Democrats, however, voted almost unanimously Nay — 1-210. Only 0.5% chose to maintain federal services.

Regarding the House bill, 43 of 44 Republican senators (97.7%) voted Yea. (Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., demurred). Among Democrats, only 1 of 48 (Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa.) or 2.1% voted to keep federal functions going. (Eight Republicans did not vote. Their potential Yeas would not have yielded the 60 required for passage.)

All told, Democrats killed the continuing resolution 44-48.

They also torpedoed subsequent GOP language to avoid the Schumer Shutdown.

Democrats could have kept their beloved Big Government chugging along, with tax dollars cascading into every marble palace in Washington, D.C.

Federal salaries would sustain park rangers at the base of the Grand Canyon and NASA's astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

VA doctors would heal war wounds, just as Foreign Service Officers would advance American diplomacy at US Embassies worldwide. Washington's printers would spew checks for soybean subsidies, highway construction, endangered species, law enforcement, Head Start, and atomic weapons.

Democrats could have savored this and much more that Big Government undertakes. Their sacred programs, extravagant initiatives, and lavish freebies would have flowed like "Ol' Man River."

But Democrats said, "Hell No!" to all of this because they love something even more than Big Government itself: Illegal aliens.

Once merely romantic, this passion inches toward the erotic.

As White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt explained Thursday via X, Republicans justifiably scuttled a Democrat measure that "intentionally allows for Medicaid to go to those improperly granted asylum and parole during Joe Biden’s illegal alien invasion."

"It's not something that we made up," Vice President JD Vance told Fox News recently.

"It’s not a talking point. It is in the text of the bill that they initially gave to us to reopen the government."

Sure enough, page 56 of S. 2882, Senator Patty Murray's, D-Wash., continuing resolution, would have triggered "Repeal of Health Subtitle Changes," namely "Subtitle B of Title VII" of the One Big Beautiful Bill. Murray’s legislation would have repealed six GOP reforms that denied government healthcare to illegals.

Among other things, Democrats’ attempted wet kiss for their illegal-alien paramours would have:

•Renewed Medicare benefits for illegal aliens and foreign citizens (10-year cost: $5.1 billion)

•Revived Medicaid assistance to same ($6.2 billion)

•Restored bonuses for taxpayer-financed emergency care ($28.2 billion)

•Resurrected ObamaCare subsidies ($91.4 billion)

If enacted, this Democrat blueprint would have handed illegal aliens and foreigners $192.8 billion in "free" taxpayer-funded healthcare.

And since Republicans are blockading this nearly $200 billion, decade-long raid on the Treasury, Democrats repeatedly have voted to deny American citizens basic public services.

And that’s how the Schumer Shutdown was born.

Amid this fiscal commotion, the dinosaur media propagate the lie that Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and House Democratic chief Hakeem Jeffries (both New Yorkers) are moderates who are defending the political center from the Democrat Party’s Left-wing base.

In fact, Schumer and Jeffries are the Democratic Party's left-wing base.

According to the Institute for Legislative Analysis' 2024 Limited Government Ratings, stalwart socialist Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., earned 13.13% out of 100%. (GOP leader John Thune, R-S.D., scored 68.37%.) Sen. Schumer, D-N.Y., 10.10%. He votes left of Sanders.

In the House, Jeffries secured 5.96%.

This was less left than New Yorker and socialist pin-up Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's 3.81% rating, but light years from Louisianan and House Speaker Mike Johnson's 81.74%. (Meanwhile, AOC is not just the House's socialist North Star.

The restless lawmaker from Queens challenged Trump: "My office is open, and you are free to walk in and negotiate with me directly." AOC big-footed her boss!)

Schumer and Jeffries might have cooler heads than their pyromaniacal colleagues.

Also, as official leaders of the opposition, they are willing, or at least duty bound, to meet with President Donald J. Trump — as they did Monday.

In contrast, many Democrats would step right over Trump if he fell to the floor.

Don't let the Democrats' media bodyguards fool you: If Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries are moderates, Mel Brooks is Catholic.
