Trump Speculates on Biden Cancer Diagnosis

By    |   Monday, 19 May 2025 07:54 PM EDT

President Donald Trump said he was surprised the public wasn't notified earlier about former President Joe Biden's prostate cancer diagnosis.

"I think it's very sad, actually. I'm surprised that it wasn't, you know, the public wasn't notified a long time ago because to get to stage 9, that's a long time," Trump said while speaking to reporters at The White House.

Prostate cancers are given a score called a Gleason score that measures, on a scale of 1 to 10, how the cancerous cells look compared with normal cells. Biden's office said his score was 9, suggesting his cancer is among the most aggressive. His cancer is considered stage 4.

Trump speculated the same doctor who said Biden was cognitively fit to be president might have missed his cancer.

"I think that if you take a look, it's the same doctor that said that Joe was cognitively fine, there was nothing wrong with him," Trump said. "If it's the same doctor, he said there was nothing wrong there, and that's being proven to be a sad situation."

The president was wondering why it took so long for Biden's cancer to be discovered.

"The other thing is you have to say, why did it take so long? This takes a long time, it could take years to get to this level of danger," Trump added. "So look, it's a very, very sad situation, and I feel very badly about it. And I think people should try and find out what happened."
