Trump: 'Simpleton' Harris Wages Campaign of Hate

By    |   Wednesday, 30 October 2024 02:34 PM EDT

Former President Donald Trump, speaking at one of his remaining rallies before Tuesday's  presidential election, railed against Vice President Kamala Harris as a "simpleton" and accused her of waging a "campaign of hate" after President Joe Biden's comments that appeared to label Trump supporters as "garbage."

"We're running a campaign of solutions to save America, which they have virtually destroyed during their almost four-year period of rule," Trump said at a rally Wednesday in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, which was shown live on Newsmax and Newsmax 2

"Kamala Harris, a low IQ individual, is running a campaign of hate, anger, and retribution," he added, telling his supporters that Harris and her campaign consider them to be garbage.

Biden's comments, while talking about a comedian's labeling of Puerto Rico during Trump's Madison Square Garden rally as an "island of garbage," were walked back by the White House, which said he was referring to the comments made by the comedian, not Trump's supporters.

"She and Crooked Joe head up the worst administration in the history of our country," said Trump. "They've made Jimmy Carter look like a truly great president. In all fairness to Jimmy, he didn't let in 21 million people, many of them criminals."

But Harris, he added, spoke at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., and "all she talked about was Donald Trump," not about her plans.

"What's she going to do to get the economy going?" said Trump. "We're going to do this and that. By the way, her plans are the plans of a simpleton. They're not going to work. We'll be in a depression like 1929. ... Why didn't she do all these things she's saying we're going to do?"

The "campaign of hate," Trump said, is because Harris and Biden "have no achievements, only failure and gloom."

Harris has also been comparing her opponents to the "most evil mass murderers in history," but it was during Biden's call that brought out "what he and Kamala really think of our supporters."

"He called them garbage, and they mean it," said Trump. "My response to Joe and Kamala is very simple. You can't lead America if you don't love Americans. You just don't. And you can't be president if you hate the American people. And there's a lot of hatred there. Kamala Harris is not fit to be president of the United States."

Biden's comments, he added, were the "direct result" of the Harris campaign.

"They've treated you like garbage," he said. "You know what the truth is? They've treated our whole country like garbage whether they meant to or not, because they are grossly incompetent people."

Trump added that the Biden administration "weaponized the power of our own government against us. They've gone after their political opponent, me."

Trump said that while the Harris campaign claims he will jail his enemies, "that's what they've been trying to do to me for three years."

Harris, he added, "hated that last night" when she heard about what Biden had said, but "honestly, I don't think she's smart enough to know what it really means."

But the garbage comment made former Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton's comments about his supporters being "deplorables look like baby stuff," said Trump.

"I call you the heart and soul of America," he said. "You're the people that built America. Together on November 5th, we're going to bring our country back to levels of greatness never seen before."
