Forty-seven percent of Michigan Republican primary voters say they favor Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, while 42% support former President Donald Trump in a head-to-head matchup, according to a new poll by Echelon Insights.
Eleven percent did not know or refused to answer.
Poll results, released Tuesday:
- 43% of Republican women in Michigan say they support Trump, compared to 40% who say they favor DeSantis.
- 51% of Republican men say they back DeSantis, while 41% say they support Trump.
- 30% of those polled say they have heard a lot about Trump referring to DeSantis as "Ron DeSanctimonious," while 68% say they have not heard much about it or nothing at all.
- 45% said the statement by Trump makes them think more poorly of Trump; 5% say the statement makes them think more poorly of DeSantis; 50% say it doesn't change their mind either way.
The poll, conducted Feb. 13-16, surveyed 400 Republican primary voters in Michigan. The margin of error is plus/minus 6 percentage points.
