Trump: Much Govt 'Fraud, Waste, and Abuse' Remains

By    |   Tuesday, 11 February 2025 09:55 AM EST

President Donald Trump said there is "much left to find" in his administration's investigations of government spending despite judges and "activists" trying to slow the push.

"Billions of Dollars of FRAUD, WASTE, AND ABUSE, has already been found in the investigation of our incompetently run Government," Trump wrote Tuesday on Truth Social.

He said that "certain activists and highly political judges want us to slow down or stop."

"Losing this momentum will be very detrimental to finding the TRUTH, which is turning out to be a disaster for those involved in running our Government," Trump added. "Much left to find. No Excuses!!!"

His post came after a federal judge in Massachusetts on Monday blocked cuts announced by the National Institutes of Health to funding indirect cost payouts to universities, hospitals, and other research groups.

The NIH on Friday announced cuts to "indirect costs" that fund hazardous waste disposal, support staff, and the electricity needed to operate sophisticated machinery, among other costs.

The White House said the "overhead" cuts will result in savings of $4 billion a year, but scientific organizations say the money is key to their being able to continue research.

Also on Monday, U.S. District Judge George O'Toole Jr. ruled that a stay on the administration's planned deferred resignation plan for government workers would remain in place until he issues a ruling in the case.

The program, spearheaded by Elon Musk, Trump's top adviser for cutting federal spending, calls for workers to stop working and be paid through Sept. 30.

Labor unions called the plan illegal and asked O'Toole to put it on hold and stop the Office of Personnel Management from soliciting workers to sign up.

Also on Monday, U.S. Judge John McConnell ordered the Trump administration to stop disobeying his order to unfreeze grants that the White House had deemed as being wasteful and fraudulent government spending.

Meanwhile, Musk called for the impeachment of U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer, an Obama-era federal judge who ruled that DOGE can't access personal and financial data stored at the Treasury Department.
