Trump: US Will 'Be Involved' in Netanyahu Trial

By    |   Monday, 03 November 2025 04:59 PM EST

The U.S. will "be involved" in the criminal trial of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Donald Trump told CBS.

Netanyahu faces criminal charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in a trial that began in 2020 but is still in the cross-examination stage.

He is accused of accepting hundreds of thousands of dollars in bribes from wealthy business executives and of granting regulatory benefits in exchange for favorable news coverage.

The verdict will be delivered after the prosecution has rested in the case, which is expected take at least one year, according to The Jerusalem Post.

"I don't think they treat him very well. He's under trial for some things, and I don't think they treat him very well," Trump said on "60 Minutes" in an interview that aired Sunday evening.

He added, "We'll be involved in that to help him out a little bit, because I think it's very unfair."

During the interview, Trump also noted he "had to push" Netanyahu when asked about his call for the prime minister to apologize to Qatar after a failed strike on Hamas leaders in Doha this year.

"I didn't like certain things that he did, and you saw what I did about that," Trump said in a possible reference to the strike.

Trump said he and the "wartime prime minister" work well together, adding: "That's the kind of person you needed in Israel at the time."

"I had to push him a little bit one way or the other. I did a great job in pushing," Trump continued, going on to call Netanyahu a "very talented guy … [who has] never been pushed before."
